Abstract

Flexible displays mil be used first in curved, hand-held and wrist-worn devices, and later on in panoramic and surround applications. These displays will be made with thin plastic or metal substrates and encapsulation. The TFT backplanes experience mechanical stress during their fabrication and when they are flexed in displays. Mechanical results obtained with flexible TFT backplanes provide guidelines for the mechanics of flexible displays.
