Abstract

Far-infrared magneto-absorption experiments have been performed on donors confined in GaAs/Al//0//. //2//5Ga//0//. //7//5As multi-quantum wells. The structures had GaAs layer thicknesses of 80-450 A and were selectively doped either at the edge or center of the quantum wells. The experiments show that the 1s-2p (m equals plus 1) absorption lines attributed to donors at the center of the well shift to higher energies as quantum well widths are reduced. However, the experimentally determined transition energies are somewhat smaller than those predicted theoretically.
