Linewidth enhancement factor of a type-I quantum-cascade laser

Abstract

The linewidth enhancement factor of a type-I quantum-cascade laser was investigated. The optical gain spectra of the laser was extracted for the wavelength of 8.2 μm. Results showed a change in refractive index with increased bias current. The linewidth enhancement factor was found to be -0.5. A group index of around 3.47 was also determined.
