Abstract
We report the observation of inelastic light scattering by large wavevector inter-Landau level excitations of the 2D electron gas in a perpendicular magnetic field. In results from very high electron mobility single GaAs quantum wells we find evidence of excitonic binding and roton minima predicted by Hartree-Fock calculations. Massive breakdown of wavevector conservation due to residual disorder allows this insight into Coulomb interactions.
