Abstract

Contains 13 papers arising from a workshop held at Princeton University. The book aims to explore the status of land surface parameterisations within climate models and how observational data can be used to assess the parameterisations and improve models. The first part of the book discusses past, present and future field experiments and how passive microwave remote sensing can make contributions to the understanding of interaction processes. The second part debates the sensitivity of climate to land-atmosphere interaction processes and particularly discusses problems of modeling, scale and parameterisations. -after Publishers
