Abstract

A new technique for joint channel estimation and symbol detection in the Rayleigh flat-fading channels with impulsive noise is developed. This technique involves an approximation to the likelihood statistics for such channels, which in turn is based on the Masreliez approximation of nonlinear filtering. It is seen that the proposed detector outperforms the detector based on the Kalman filter.
