Abstract
The optimality of time division multiple access (TDMA) in the low power regime was discussed. Two-user additive Gaussian noise multiple access and broadcast channels were considered for the purpose. The additive white Gaussian noise channels not subjected to fading were analyzed. The minimum values of energy per bit were obtained in the limit of infinite bandwidth. Results indicated zero spectral efficiency and gave no implication about the bandwidth-power tradeoff in the channel.
