Abstract

A method is proposed to identify, classify, and index icosahedral quasicrystals based on powder diffraction data. The proposed method is applied to a large catalog of powder diffraction patterns, including natural minerals, to find new quasicrystals. Some promising materials were reported worthy of further exploration.
