    Abstract

High-resolution spectroscopic diagnostic for divertor and scrape-off layer (SOL) neutral and impurity emission measurements in the National Spherical Torus experiment were discussed. The particle flux measurements in the divertor and plasma SOL were carried out by two spectrally filtered one-dimensional charge coupled device cameras. Both cameras provided mm spatial resolution, sub-ms temporal resolution and were spatially and photometrically calibrated. Results showed in-out asymmetries in divertor recycling and carbon fluxes in L- and H-mode plasmas.
