Abstract
A global extended magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) study of fast magnetic reconnection was presented. The simulation results obtained by solving the full set of extended MHD equations over a global domain but with enough resolution to fully resolve the inner reconnection region were presented. It was concluded by observing the results that either anomalous resistivity or the Hall term on its own is fully capable of giving rise to fast reconnection.
