Abstract

The authors describe an alternative method of making glass and ceramic bodies using non-aqueous colloidal dispersions of submicron particles produced by flame oxidation. The dispersion can be molded and gelled. The gell is dried and sintered at relatively low temperatures to produce glass or ceramic bodies of high purity.
