Abstract
Semiconductor quantum cascade (QC) lasers are rapidly becoming the technology of choice for compact, high-performance sources of mid-infrared radiation. Possible applications include time-resolved spectroscopy of the countless solid-state and molecular systems having their characteristic absorption features in the mid-infrared.
