Abstract
Hydrogenation of white phosphorus (P4) has been achieved under ambient conditions by reaction with [Zr(η5-C5Me5) (η5-C5H4tBu)H2] to give [{Zr(η5- C5Me5) (η5- C5H4tBu)}2-(P4)H2] (see picture). Preliminary data suggest that the reaction proceeds by a cooperative reductive elimination/insertion sequence involving two zirconium centers.
