Abstract

Zawadowski has questioned the validity of the tunneling-Hamiltonian method for calculating simultaneously the amplitudes J0 and E0 of the zero-bias supercurrent and phase-coupling barrier energy. We find that Zawadowski's Green's-function method leads to results which, to lowest order in the tunneling coupling constant T, i.e., T2 agree with those previously obtained. The T2 (ln T)-1 corrections to the ratio J0E0 predicted by Zawadowski's method are found to be spurious.
