Abstract

The measurements of the frequency and wave number of the quasicoherent (QC) mode by a nonintrusive diagnostic were presented. The QC mode was a high frequency nearly sinusoidal fluctuation in density and magnetic field, localized in the steep density gradient at the plasma edge with typical wave numbers. It was proposed that the QC mode was a form of resistive balloning mode known as the resistive X-point mode.
