Abstract
Assuming that the mid-IR absorption in the non-cuprates isomorphic to the HTSC has the same origin as in these cuprates, we propose a pheonmenological model for the absorption. We also compare the intensity of the Drude and the mid-IR components in various transition metal oxides.
