Efficient difference frequency generation in triply resonant nonlinear cavities

Abstract

We develop a theoretical framework for second-order nonlinear difference frequency generation in triply resonant wavelength-scale cavities, demonstrating stable CW conversion with quantum-limited efficiency. We propose a scheme for efficient THz generation based on this framework.
