Abstract
The interplay between normative and positive analysis is always a matter of unease, of embarrassment. In this paper, I argue for a particular division of labor between disciplines and subdisciplines in the construction of useful conceptual tools for those (decision-makers, analysts, citizens, etc.) who want to evaluate policy options and social states.
