Abstract

The development of a high-order accurate discontinuous Galerkin method is presented, with a focus on the use of efficient implicit time integration strategies for large eddy simulations. High resolution results for the Re = 3900 tandem spheres implicit LES case from the 5th international workshop on high-order CFD methods (HiOCFD5) are given with polynomial order discretization up to R4 . Additional results for the same configuration at Pe = 1000, 10000, and 50000 are also provided. Following this, the authors’ latest results are presented applying this methodology to the high-lift common research model at varying angle of attack, the subject of the 4th AIAA CFD high lift prediction workshop (HLPW-4), held in conjunction with the 2021 AIAA SciTech forum.
