Abstract
Mahasweta Devi (b. 1926) is an activist, a renowned author of literary fiction and radical journalism, and is one of the most important postcolonial public intellectuals of contemporary India. Her work is concerned with the aboriginal (adivasi or tribal) citizens of India, as well as other marginalized and disenfranchised groups that collectively make up the contemporary Indian poor.
