Abstract
In this letter, the application of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) to Terahertz (THz) transmission is proposed in order to mitigate the harmful effect of beam alignment errors. In particular, two types of cognitive radio inspired NOMA (CR-NOMA) schemes are developed to realize different tradeoffs between system performance and user fairness. Both analytical and simulation results are presented to demonstrate the superior performance gain of THz-NOMA over conventional orthogonal multiple access based THz transmission.
