abstract = "Two 4 MW ICRF antennas have been designed for the Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor (TFTR). The antennas will be installed adjacent to the two existing antennas, bringing the maximum ICRF heating capacity to 12.5 MW. The design goals were as follows: Increase the loading to the plasma; reduce the tendency for arcing; and simplify the fabrication and assembly of the device. The design is an evolution of the Bay M ICRF antenna that has operated at 5 MW into the plasma. 2- 3 The antenna utilizes a center mounted spline drive mechanism for positioning the device with respect to the plasma edge and for resisting the forces generated during disruptions. The antenna consists of an RF cavity with slots at the front end (facing the plasma). The Faraday shields are unique for each launcher, thought they share common design elements. Both launchers use solid Inconel rods that are bent to a radius matching the plasma and tilted six degrees in order to be parallel with the combined PF and TF fields of the tokamak. The {"}Bay K{"} launcher uses a single row shield while the {"}Bay N{"} launcher incorporates a double row shield. Surrounding the edge of the RF box is a frame of graphite tiles that protect the Faraday shield from the plasma. Four RF feedthroughs deliver power to a pair of end fed, center grounded current straps. The RF cavity and current straps are cooled with water. The antennas are scheduled to be installed on TFTR in January of 1992.",
