Abstract
The process of THz generation in biased structures became particularly efficient when the excitation was carried out close to the anode. However, two-dimensional scans of the THz emission in small gap structures showed an absence of this asymmetry. A gradual transition to the positive electrode effect is observed for gaps larger than 20 μm. The polarization of the radiation as a function of the different structures and the use of these structures as detectors is discussed.
