Abstract

ADMINISTRATION of recombinant growth factors can result in acceleration of hematopoiesis and dose-related toxic effects. A better understanding of these new drugs requires studying not only the recombinant protein infused but also its effects on secondarily released cytokines that may have an impact on clinical response. Studies of cytokine kinetics are valuable tools for improving current growth factor regimens, and they offer insight into the design of future trials involving novel applications or combinations of cytokines.
