Abstract
The effect of angular momentum in axisymmetric critical collapse of massless scalar fields was studied. The azimuthal dependence of the scalar field was also defined so that the resulting stress-energy tensor and spacetime metric were axisymmetric. It was observed that if the initial phases were preserved during evolution, the equations of motion were identical. The critical solution was found to be nonspherical, discretely self-similar with an echoing exponent and exhibitted a scaling exponent in a near-critical collapse.
