Crab nebulous

Michael D. Gordin

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This essay begins with a bizarre excerpt from Turgenev concerning a large black crab, a spiritualist, and a gambling scene in Baden-Baden. But from this marginal crab the reader may peer into a Russian world of intermixed religion, science and politics.
