Abstract

We report 2-pulse and 3-pulse photon echo studies of CdSe nanocrystals at 293 K and 4.5 K. The data and simulations, which include the effects of many-particle correlations for the 2PE, show that the 3PE signal provides a precise measurement of the inhomogeneity in the exciton transition energy due to the size distribution of the quantum dots. The dephasing processes revealed by the 2PE are found to occur on at least two important time scales.
