Abstract
The density fluctuations in the reversed field pinch can be controlled by modifying the current density profile. These fluctuations are directly associated with core-resonant resistive tearing modes. Experiments show that reductions of the density fluctuations were achieved by an order of magnitude over the entire plasma cross-section.
