The linearized dynamics about the cylindrical equilibrium of a non-neutral plasma in a uniform axial magnetic field is discussed. A spectral analysis shows the existence of two continua, both of which are shown to be stable. The possibility of Suydam-like rapidly oscillating solutions is also demonstrated. The Suydam solutions may imply the existence of an infinite sequence of unstable modes that belong to the discrete spectrum.
