Abstract

The new magnetotransport measurements performed in an ultrahigh mobility GaAs/AlGaAs specimen were discussed. It was found that the magnetotransport measurements were performed on a 300 Å wide modulation-doped GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well of density n ≃ 3.0 × 1011cm-2 and the ultrahigh mobility μ≃ 27 × 106 cm2/V s. The evidences were interpreted for a fractional quantum Hall liquid forming in the N = 2 Landau level. The results show that a magnetically driven insulator-insulator quantum phase transition occurred between the bubble and Wigner crystal phases at T = 0.
