Abstract

Steady spray jets are considered from single cylindrical orifices under conditions of direct fuel injection in internal combustion engines, but at room temperature. Computations were made with a two-dimensional unsteady model that uses atomization results as nozzle exit boundary conditions, a submodel for gas turbulence, and a stochastic algorithm to compute drop events, including collisions and coalescence.
