Abstract
Decoherence is a natural part of the dynamics in open quantum systems, and the suppression or control of decoherence is a central issue for many applications. This paper discusses the investigation of the viability of closed loop optimal control of decoherence phenomena. The study covered situations with very strong system-environment coupling. These circumstances lead to a clear but modest degree of control over decoherence.
