Charmless hadronic B decays at BABAR

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

We present preliminary results of several searches for rare charmless hadronic decays of the B meson using data collected by the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center's PEP-II storage ring. We search for the decays h+h-, h+h-h+, h+h-π0, X0h+, and X0Ks0, where h = π or K, and X0 = η′ or ω. In a sample of 8.8 million BB̄ decays we measure the branching fractions: B(B0 → π+π-) = (9.3-2.3-1.4+2.6+1.2) × 10-6 B(B0 → K+π-) = (12.5-2.6-1.7+3.0+1.3) × 10-6, B(B0 → ρ-π+) = (49 ± 13-5+6) × 10-6, and B(B+ → η′K+) = (62±18±8) × 10-6. We calculate upper limits for the modes without a significant signal.
