Abstract
Using several phenomenological models, rapid, model-independent, investigation of the consistency of microwave background (CMB) datasets, and of the robustness of the properties of the peak in the CMB power spectrum was carried out. The peak was observed by two different instruments. It was found that the properties of this peak are consistent with those of the first peak in the inflation-inspired adiabatic cold dark matter (CDM) models, and inconsistent with a number of competing models.
