Carrier dynamics investigation in a quantum cascade laser using Mid-IR femtosecond pulses

Abstract

In a room temperature 4.5 μm QCL resonantly pumped with fs Mid-IR pulses, we observe an ultrafast gain recovery within the first 200 fs, gain oscillation within the 1 ps and a slower gain recovery of lifetime ∼2-3 ps.
