Abstract

The capacity of a time-varying channel with perfect side information of the channel response at the sender and the receiver is considered. We obtain a formal weak coding theorem which achieves the maximum expected mutual information. For an ISI channel, the input distribution that maximizes this mutual information is shown to be Gaussian conditioned on the past channel values.
