Abstract
A Hartree-type of effective potential is derived for an excess electron near the helium liquid-vapor interface. The surface-state eigenvalaue spectrum is thus calculated. Results obtained for both He4 (with an experimental interface profile) and He3 (with a theoretical profile) are in reasonable agreement with experimental data.
