Abstract
The approximation of spray drop-size data by the Nukiyama-Tanasawa, Rosin-Rammler, and Griffith Comminution functions are studied. A generalized function also was used. All functions except the Rosin-Rammler were applied to spray data with a logarithmic least-squares technique. The generalized function matched the data most accurately, but digital computer programming was necessary. The Griffith function was only slightly less accurate and did not require computer calculations. Estimates of mean diameters for a spray sample with all three functions were made by direct numerical integration.
