Abstract
A radio-frequency-quadrupole (RFQ) accelerator based calibration system has been installed in the L3 experiment. This system consists of a 30 keV RF-driven volume H- ion source, a 1.85 MeV RFQ accelerator, a N2 gas neutralizer, a 10 m long beam pipe and a Li target. The 17.6 MeV photons produced by radiative capture of 1.85 MeV H0 atom, 7Li(H,γ)8Be, provide a calibration source for 11,000 crystals of the L3 BGO calorimeter.
