Abstract

Experimental and theoretical investigations were conducted for the vaporization of a single alcohol droplet in air with various degrees of humidity. Results show that the vaporization of a volatile alcohol, such as methanol and ethanol, is accompanied by the simultaneous condensation of water vapor on the droplet surface such that the associated condensation heat release greatly facilitates the gasification rate of alcohol.
