Abstract

The generation of coherent magnetic fields from MHD turbulence, known as the mean-field turbulent dynamo, is a fundamental problem in plasma astrophysics and a longstanding theoretical challenge. Mean-field dynamo has traditionally been modeled within the framework of mean-field electrodynamics, which typically assumes strict scale separation between turbulence and mean fields, treats mean flows as prescribed rather than dynamically coupled (the kinematic approximation), and neglects the backreaction of coherent fields on the turbulence. However, these simplifications can overlook essential physics, while more general approaches have largely been heuristic.
