Abstract

A single-layer dual-band shared-aperture antenna with a single chain is proposed in this paper. By embedding a substrate integrated cavity (SIC) into a microstrip patch antenna, dual resonators can be realized in a shared-structure style with a low-profile appearance. The microstrip patch together with the SIC function as a dual-mode wideband antenna for the low-band operation. Meanwhile, the high-band antenna is formed by etching slots on the top surface of the SIC. Besides, the dual-operation can be excited by a single-chain with one differential port. Simulated results demonstrate good broadside radiation patterns and high efficiency for the proposed antenna in both operating bands.
