A new concept for a direct optical free-space interconnect without lenses

Abstract

We present a novel concept for a direct optical free-space interconnect without lenses based on surface plasmon emitting LEDs and surface plasmon detectors. These devices exhibit angle and wavelength selective coupling of p-polarized light out of or into the device.
