Abstract
A hybrid planar-mixed molecular heterojunction (PM-HJ) photovoltaic cell consisting of a mixed layer of donor and acceptor molecules was studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to examine the morphology of the pure and mixed CuPc and C60 films. It was shown that a hybrid donor-acceptor molecular HJ structure sandwiched between homogeneous donor and acceptor layers can significantly improve the performance of organic photovoltaic cells. Using an analysis based on a field-dependent carrier collection length in the D-A mixture, the current-voltage characteristics of the hybrid PM-HJ cell were described.
