Abstract

Probabilistic performance-based evaluation of structures under fire requires probabilistic modeling of fire load density and properties of materials at high temperatures. This paper uses a Bayesian methodology to develop the probabilistic models for fire load density in office buildings and properties of steel and insulating materials of such structures at elevated temperatures. An example application of this methodology (using the proposed models and Monte Carlo Simulations) evaluates the probabilistic performance of a steel perimeter column in an office building under fire. The probability of failure for the column at various times is calculated.
