Abstract
The molecular structure of 9,10-Dibromotriptycene was investigated. It was observed that the molecule of the compound has high rigidity and approximate threefold symmetry, but no crystallographically imposed molecular symmetry. It was also observed that the bond distances and angles in the compound were consistent with those reported in analogous mono- and di-substituted triptycenes. It was found that despite the largely aromatic nature of the molecule, no π-stacking was observed in the crystal structure of the compound.
