Abstract

A 12.5 Gbit/s fibre-optic network is implemented with a central mode-locked laser clock, integrated-optic waveguide modulators, optical time-multi/demultiplexing and an optical reservation protocol. The network accommodates 125 stations transmitting at 100 Mbit/s each, using receiver-fixed assignment time-division multiple access.
