Abstract
8×11.5Gbit/s (10 Gbit/s after coding) optical OFDM transmission over 1000km standard single mode fibre (SSMF) with conventional distributed feedback (DFB) lasers and direct-detection is demonstrated. Compared with coherent-detection using external cavity lasers (ECL), DFB lasers and direct-detection can significantly reduce the system complexity and cost.
